Denver Newspaper Agency
Since the merger of the business operations of Denver's two daily newspapers in 2001, I have been directly involved in all aspects of newspaper publishing including the creation of ads and pages, acting as liaison to The Post's newsroom and coordination of daily production in a deadline-driven, highly sophisticated pagination environment.

Experience
After college I worked as copywriter, editor, designer, creative director and production manager at various advertising agencies and internal marketing departments.   Learned a lot about writing, editing, design, production and account management while growing a very thick skin.   Prior to joining The Post I ran my own agency for five years.

Education
B.S. in Communications, the Ohio State University.

Software
Proficient in Mac OSX, Windows, MS Word, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Acrobat.
Working knowledge of CS Suite including InDesign and Illustrator as well as Flash and MS Excel.  Hands-on knowledge of electronic prepress and pagination software including UniSys Hermes and PPi.  Know some HTML but only use it to edit stubborn Dreamweaver code these days.

Web
Became interested in web publishing in 1998. Learned HTML and associated design applications over the ensuing years. Wrote an online column for The Denver Post titled Colorado Journal for six years. Discontinued the column last year and now post a weekly blog on denverpost.com centered, primarily, on environmental issues. Constructed company intranet site as well as several other websites over the course of the past ten years.

Personal
A love of the outdoors brought my wife, Julie, and I to Colorado in 1984. Our daughter is currently attending CSU.  The things we enjoy most are; camping, skiing, hiking and just about anything involving sunshine and fresh air.   Our home is solar-powered which has sparked a strong interest in renewable energy, especially solar PV. We are currently forest stewards and live in the foothills west of Fort Collins.
